The course examines a selection of examples of interpretive processes—in theoretical and contemplative literature, in sacred scripture, in literature and in the arts, from antiquity to contemporary times. Through these examples we will examine the phenomenon of interpretation, its underlying assumptions, and the tension between conservatism and innovation in interpretive works
