The course will cover the following three themes:
1) From single neuron to coding
2) The motor system
3) Neural plasticity
For each theme you will receive a reading list including relevant book chapters and several papers. Reading the chapters and papers is mandatory. The lectures will assume that you have read all the material. Some of the papers will be noted as papers for discussion. We will have 5 sessions (double 45 min) discussing these papers. In those sessions you need to bring a printout of the paper and you should be ready to present sections of the papers.
There will be no paper presentations by students.
Grading
There is no exam in the course. At the end of each one of the blocks/themes you will receive an assignment, which you have to submit within 3 week. The final grade will be composed of 30% for each assignment and 10% for active participation in the papers discussion sections. The assignments can be done in pairs but no two assignments can be done with the same partner.
There is a way to obtain a bonus on the grade, which will be presented in the introduction to the course.
